Midlife, The Third Chapter of Life Part II

Midlife, The Third Chapter of Life Part II

Midlife, The Third Chapter of Life:

In Midlife and the Third Chapter of Life, we discussed the first time I heard about this acknowledgement of aging and we discussed, According to Psychology Today, midlife spans between the ages of 40 and 65 and It can be a stressful time, as many people come to feel discontented and restless as they struggle with aging, mortality, and holding onto a sense of purpose.

In the blog posts, Staying Organized In Midlife and the post Midlife, The Third Chapter of Life, I mentioned a quote that I have began to live with as my life motto… It states to Remember a dead battery can not jump another dead battery! Get away from people who can’t charge your spirit when you need a jump!

Midlife, The Third Chapter of Life Part II:

Today in midlife, the third chapter of life part 2 we will explore further thoughts on the quote and our emotional battery.

The Quote:

A dead battery can’t jump a dead battery! Get away from people who can’t charge your spirit when you need a jump!

A dead battery or in this case our emotional battery gets challenged several times in our lives. The closer I get to the age of sixty, I am learning that in order to have balance, I must work on what feeds my emotional battery and what does not feed my emotional battery.

In the article The 3 types of energy that feed your emotional “battery”, she addresses…

  • Emotional Energy
  • Mental Energy
  • Spiritual Energy

Let’s start with Spiritual Energy, she states that “Spiritual energy is the most neglected, but it is essential because is the one that gives us the strength to get up each morning and don’t get discouraged, even when adversity are knocking at our door. This type of energy comes from the projects, the causes, the illusions and dreams which we are passionate to.

I have not neglected this energy, this is the energy I lean on each day, rather anyone is cheering for me or not, I have always believed this is an essential part of my life!

What about you? Do you neglect this essential type of energy?

Second place would have to be emotional energy for me. I have always lived with someone or an event that would exhaust this energy. I find what helps me is music. To keep a positive attitude I probably listen to up beat or spiritual music. One of my favorite this year is Jordan Davis’ ” Church in a Chevy.” I defiantly can see myself doing this very thing.

Now if I am dealing with negative emotions I will still lean on music but it will have to be a tune to encourage me to show I will get past this, like Reba McEntire’s- I’m Gonna Take That Mountain or even these lyrics if it pertains to my spouse.

“Find a place within you where there is joy and this joy will burn the pain.”—Joseph Campbell

What about you? What place within you brings joy and does it work to burn the pain too?

Third but not the least is Mental Energy:

“The energy of the mind is the essence of life,” said Benjamin Franklin

She expresses that “doing one thing at a time” and ” alternating periods of work and rest” allow you to recharge this energy.

Challenge:

For the month of June 2021, find a quote to use for your “life motto,” that will build up your emotional battery for the remainder of 2021. Then share it in a message on this podcast or in a comment on this blog post. The top six quotes that inspire me will be discussed on July 18th podcast!
