Midlife and the Third Chapter of Life

Midlife and the Third Chapter of Life

Midlife and the Third Chapter of Life:

Midlife and the Third Chapter of Life, I first heard Jane Fonda speak of the third chapter of life when I was forty-five years old stuck in a bed for twenty-four weeks due to a severe knee injury. I was watching the video that accompanied her book called, Jane Fonda My Life So Far.

There is also Jane Fonda IN Five Acts 2018, where they cover the acts of her life.

At the time I thought what a great acknowledgement of what some of the strong women in my life were facing and an eye opener to a path that I will enter too.

According to Psychology Today, midlife spans between the ages of 40 and 65 and It can be a stressful time, as many people come to feel discontented and restless as they struggle with aging, mortality, and holding onto a sense of purpose.

Some of us even struggle with the fact we may not matter to the person we lay down with each night. Those nights get longer and longer each year. I mentioned in STAYING ORGANIZED IN MIDLIFE, to remember that a dead battery can not jump another dead battery, but is there a limit to how many times you try? Some people may feel that they just do not have anywhere else to go, so they stay.

So, as I laid in that bed with my leg elevated I was already 5 years into my midlife chapter. Six years had already passed since my father died, that was my first big loss of life. My mother who had been handicapped since I was twelve, called every day from the nursing home because I could not drive down and help her days go smoothly. Then I hear this Hollywood actress say that the third act of life begins around your 60th birthday.

The Third Act:

As I sit here talking to you, I am six years from my sixtieth birthday and facing ” death do us part,” after almost 40 years of marriage.

Just nine years earlier I was amazed by the strong women in my life that had reached their “Third Act.” My goodness, how time passes by. Do you agree?

What do you want your third act to look like?

What is the one thing you need to make a priority so your third act can look the way you imagine it?

My Third Act:

What do I want my third act to look like?

That is simple… I want my third act to look amazing! I want to see the most prettiest sunsets God offers and I want to laugh out loud like never before.

What is the one thing I need to make a priority so my third act can look this way?

The one thing I need to make a priority is to continue my healthy living style. Continue to eat as healthy as possible, and continue to stay active. At the sweet age of fifty-four I do not take prescriptions of any kind and plan to live that way for as many years as possible.
